Thermal cleaning is ideal for metal workpieces coated or contaminated with plastics or coatings.
Thermal cleaning, also known as pyrolysis, burning out or burning off, is a two-step process:
1. By placing workpieces in an oxygen-free furnace and raising the temperature up to 450°C, the contaminated coatings are converted into a gaseous form.
2. The gases are collected in an after-burner, in which they are burned out at a temperature of 850, ensuring us meeting the current guidelines regarding emissions.
Because of thermal cleaning workpieces can be redeployed, hence prolonging the lifespan of your workpieces.
Most plastics are fully gaseous at a temperature of 450°C. This is a very suitable temperature for treating steel workpieces. The temperature is below the threshold which prevents unwanted material or structural changes to occur. Because of thermal cleaning, the properties of materials are in no way negatively influenced. After thermal cleaning treated workpieces can therefore be redeployed.

Workpieces thermally cleaned by WBT-Electron vary in size from small to large. We cannot only clean moulding nozzles, extrusion sieves and extrusion axles but for example also heat exchangers, reactors or distillation towers till 50 tons.
